Vitamins/Supplements

Recommended Posts

This might have come up before but I was thinking about supplements/vitamins. What do you guys take for vitamins, if any? And do you feel any difference through the day or during the workout/practice?

I take a one-tablet multi-vitamin (Because I refuse to take 9 tablets daily, as some vitamins will ask of you), I drink a lot of pasteurized liqued egg whites (no taste, good cholesterol, protein), and when I'm bulking I'll take increased calorie whey protein shakes. But I try to get a lot of things naturally out of my diet, without relying on miracle pills. Lately, however, I've been experimenting with energy drinks. Still not a fan of them.

Make sure that any vitamin supplements that you take do not have high levels of A, D, E or K. Your body can store these minerals when they are in excess and you can poison yourself if you have too many of these in minerals your body. Vitamins B and C are fine though, you pee them out if you have too many.

But, when I am sick I take echinacea (even though it's proven to only have a placebo effect), a multivitamin, vitamin C (even though it's proven to reduce the longevity of cold syptoms by only 1/10th of a day) and iron.

I take a high potency multi-vitamin (Quest Premium or Maximum), a vitamin E and C every morning with breakfast.

That's correct about A, D, E, and K, as they are fat soluble vitamins, unlike the water soluble vitamins that you need to take in daily.
