Just looking through my student manual today and noticed Aragaki Unsu as one of our required foriegn katas.

 

heard alot of people talking about Unsu lately and said it was a tuff kata. so what is Aragaki Unsu? :karate:

You must train mebukan goju cause a friend of mine knows that kata he says it is version of unsu modified Aragaki was in jail it is a very cool looking kata

im not sure what mebukan is......but as i said it is a foriegn kata ( not part of my style)

I believe you are talking about the shito ryu version of Unshu. Which is where the modern Shotokan version comes from it really isent shorter it is done on a straight line and instead of the big jump trun . You do a cresent kick into a spin around much like in rohai. it is really a nice kata you see much of the chinese influence in it.

Informer I am quite aware of what the Meibukan teaches after I take goju but my friend did learn that kata insinde a meibukan dojo so go figure. Hey do you train with Yagi Family in Okinawa? Just wondering how you know what they teach there ?
