1st KYU
Just looking through my student manual today and noticed Aragaki Unsu as one of our required foriegn katas. heard alot of people talking about Unsu lately and said it was a tuff kata. so what is Aragaki Unsu? "Cry in the dojo, laugh on the battle field."
kotegashiNeo
You must train mebukan goju cause a friend of mine knows that kata he says it is version of unsu modified Aragaki was in jail it is a very cool looking kata Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro
informer
meibukan does not do any unsu kata, your friend might do it but the Yagi family in Okinawa does not teach that kata. the aragaki unsu is very different from JKA shotokan unsu and much shorter. http://www.mixedmartialartsexpo.com
1st KYU
im not sure what mebukan is......but as i said it is a foriegn kata ( not part of my style) "Cry in the dojo, laugh on the battle field."
Ronnryu
I believe you are talking about the shito ryu version of Unshu. Which is where the modern Shotokan version comes from it really isent shorter it is done on a straight line and instead of the big jump trun . You do a cresent kick into a spin around much like in rohai. it is really a nice kata you see much of the chinese influence in it. informer
nope, the one he's talking about looks nothing like the shito or shoto and the aragaki version does have a big jump. like the shotokan way. http://www.mixedmartialartsexpo.com
kotegashiNeo
Informer I am quite aware of what the Meibukan teaches after I take goju but my friend did learn that kata insinde a meibukan dojo so go figure. Hey do you train with Yagi Family in Okinawa? Just wondering how you know what they teach there ? Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro
