are those things helpful or just anotehr scam product? they are the ball where you fill it up with air. i was thinking of getting one because my family has a history of back problems and when i do crunches on the matt on the ground, it hurts sometimes, so i was thinking that soft ball thing would help me. so.. any suggestions? thanks

They're a good thing to have IMO. We have a couple of them at my dojo that we use fairly regularly. You can do all sorts of excercises with them, although like m-a said it'll be a good idea to get a book to go with it. Even better, see if you can find someone who has one who can show you what to do.
