ncole_91 Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Hello Everyone I don't know if this is a problem that many people get, and maybe all I have to do is stretch more. When I try to do a roundhouse, my hip hurts. Like when I have to lift my thigh, if you don't understand look at the picture, it would be number 2. I don't know if this is fairly common, but does anyone have any suggestions? http://www.budget.net/~dnolan/sid-t4-1.jpg Thank You in Advance, ncole_91
The Saint Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Does it hurt during the chamber or the kick? If it is the chamber I would suggest stretching a lot. If it is during the kick then you may want to have an instructor correct your form (poor form maybe a cause). Another suggestion is you might have a hip flexor problem- see a doctor if it always hurts. Do squats/ lunges to help increase the strength in your hips. I have had hip problems and it sucks, it hurts and it doesn't make any MA fun. Hoppe it feels better GL "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to go to his class." Choi, Hong Hi ITF Founder
ncole_91 Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Thanks for the advice, I am sure it is nothing very serious about it, probably just need to stretch.
Hawkeye Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 Hi, ncole_91. I have a hip that gives me grief as well. It has recently improved somewhat when a doctor noticed I had a bit of a dip in my stride. One of my legs is a bit longer than the other. A properly sized orthotic in my shoe has relieved some of the pain and a fair amount of attention to stretching and hip exercises has helped with my form and range of motion. Good luck. aefibird Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 Good luck with your hip problem ncole. I hope that you get it sorted out soon! If the stretching doesn't make it any better, then go to a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." ncole_91 Posted January 2, 2005 Author Posted January 2, 2005 I will try to stretch, then if nothing happens, I will go to the doctors, thanks everyone.
