June1 Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 Hey, guys! This may be a stupid question, but it's something I'm not always so sure of. Does anyone have a description or, better yet, a picture of what a proper push-up position looks like. I'm never sure that I'm doing them right, and I want to work my arms out properly. Thank you! June1 Posted December 24, 2004 Author Posted December 24, 2004 Oooh! Great reply! Thanks! Nick_UKWC, I'm thinking of working my biceps and triceps for now. Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH! KIAI!"Know Thyself""Circumstances make me who I am."
martial-athlete Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 If tyou want to improve you punching power...keep you hands under your shoulders, not out too wide. Also, think about what you want to achieve with the movement...strength?keep your reps under 5...strength and size increase?reps between 6 and 8....size only?keep you reps between 9 and 12. Once you have a foundation..say after a few months, you can start to add some sort of resistance to keep reps to the #s mentioned Kraig Devlin is a former member of the Canadian National Karate Team and the author of the free e-book "The Martial-Athlete's Keys to Athletic Success: Sport-Specific Training Secrets for the Serious Martial Artist" avaliable at Martial-Athlete.com
krzychicano Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Military style pushups work awesome for the triceps and biceps. I know i was in the army for 5 years What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others. - Confucius
June1 Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 I don't think I'm familiar with those, krzychicano. Is it where you do them very forcefully and fast? Please elaborate! P.S. If this double-posts, I'm sorry! Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH! KIAI!"Know Thyself""Circumstances make me who I am."
