Highler Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 can anyone tell me the difference between shito-ryu and shito-kai? Do you mean Shukokai? That's what i do and have been told it is very similar to Shito Ryu but i don't know more than that but i'm sure someone will have more info than me! If you didn't mean Shukokai then please ignore me 'The cat taught the tiger everything he knows. One day the tiger turned on the cat and the cat ran up a tree. That was the one thing the cat never taught the tiger.'

Ronnryu Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 There are many different branches of Shito ryu . However if you are refering to Seito shito ryu headed by Kenzo Mabuni and Shito kai headed by Kenei Mabuni . They are both the sons of Shito ryu founder Kenwa Mabuni. Very simaleer wiht only slight differences in the kata much the same as all the other branches. here are few sites that may help. https://www.shitokai.com https://www.martialsource.com Ron DavisSandan (Motobu ha Shito ryu)
uchinadi Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Hello. I am 3er.Dan of Shito-ryu Karate-do in the Shito-kai organization in Mexico Country. The diferences are little between Shito-ryu and Shito-kai. Shito-ryu is the name of the style and Shito-kai is the name of the organization is very simple. Exist many branches of Shito-ryu: *Dento Shito-ryu of Kenei Mabuni. *Seito Shito-ryu of Kenzo Mabuni. *Shito-kai of Manzo Iwata. *Itosu-kai of Ryusho Sakagami. *Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu of Teruo Hayashi, and others.
