SevenStar Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 hang a length of rope horizontally. walk the length of it, bobbing and weaving every step. as you get the hang of it more, work in punches and kicks as you bob and weave.

When I briefly studied Kung Fu (about 6 months total), my sifu had us doing this type of drill all the time. Though he primarily used this as a footwork drill - he even had us adding in blocking/parrying type techniques along with the punches. eggdropsoup Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 wow then that must realy work then. never thought of that. thanks!
martial-athlete Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 to really lear how to dodge and evade you need to have the visual stimulus of an object coming towards you...solo traing is OK bu a punching partner is better... also see what your eyes are doing...make sure you are not blinking Kraig Devlin is a former member of the Canadian National Karate Team and the author of the free e-book "The Martial-Athlete's Keys to Athletic Success: Sport-Specific Training Secrets for the Serious Martial Artist" avaliable at Martial-Athlete.com
BJJShotoshe Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I have a fun way. although some people think it childish, i love this method, it works well. so this is what you do. you have seven people line up, each with two rubber balls. then you stand facing them against a wall. then someone blows a whistle and they throw the balls at you, it keeps going for about five minutes, depending on how long you would like to go. not only do you get a good work out by running all over the place and dodgeing you also get a good sweat on. after a while it will get boring then you just challenge yourself and say i can only dodge a certain way like diving or ducking or jumping or whatever. i really enjoy this game. shodan - ShotokanBlue Belt - Jiu-JitsuWhoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Kieran-Lilith Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Play dodgeball. Never throw the ball, never get the ball, only dodge. Have several people throw the damnable things at you at once. Dodge and dodge and dodge. Have people throw them at you while you're "out" too. Try not to get killed. Sorry, if you can't tell, I've had really, really bad dodgeball experiences. On the bright side, just about no one can hit me. On the down side, I flinch at anything that flies towards me.
