kimura_guy Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 What is better for cardio: running or jumprope or both? KG It's better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.
blakbelt15 Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 both definatly u get twice the workout f u do both
battousai16 Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 though i would do both, if i could only do one or the other for whatever reason, i would run. running works a lot of the larger muscle groups in your legs (quads, hamstrings) and your core (abs, back). jumping rope works your calves, and allows you to be a bit more explosive. if for whatever reason you couldn't jump rope, you could get around that by doing a few sets of hundred meter sprints or jumping onto a crate and back down again... only really fast... don't know if i explained that to well.... at any rate, i think running is a bit better. kimura_guy Posted December 14, 2004 Author Posted December 14, 2004 Thanks for the replies. I was hoping yall wouldnt say running, LOL. Ever since the military, I've hated to run, but I was pretty fast. Thanks again. KG It's better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.
kimura_guy Posted December 14, 2004 Author Posted December 14, 2004 But, I guess I can live with it. LOL KG It's better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.
VinnieDaChin Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 both are great- jumping rope burns a bit more calories than jogging though. sprinting, i dont know....
Red J Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Well, you guys know I'm going to say running. I'm averaging about 12-15 miles a week since I ran the half-marathon in November. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Hudson Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Running. Sprinting, jogging, walking, running - mix it up. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
Jerry Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Running is a good way to train. I enjoy it. I also cycle to build leg strength. I find jumping rope to help with my concentration as well, because I always try new ways of doing it. And I think that it might be a good thing, seeing that one needs to focus in MA. Hawkeye Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 I'd say the one you prefer to do. There's a better chance you will keep doing the one you like to do. Doing both wouldn't hurt, though. Every timely action will bring results ... Without difficulty. Every untimely endeavor will fail ... If the moment is premature or if the right moment is missed. - The Tree Poem
