Drunken Monkey Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 ...kinda odd.... i tend to watch the space between my hands in guard and him/her. so um, i don't really watch them but rather the space that i'm supposed to be defending. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
kotegashiNeo Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Interesting topic I have heard that in fedual times the japanese samurai would not focus on any one thing but try to keep their mind unfettered. The idea was if you were confronted by ten swords and stopped to counter each one the other nine would get you, however if you acted without letting your mind stop on anyone person or thing, you would be able to defeat all ten. So in regards to the question posed look nowhere and be everywhere. Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro
RaidenTB Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Other. We are taught not to focus on a specific body part but rather try and look at a larger perspective. Sort of "looking at the tree in the distance" Imagination is more important than knowledge.

(or NOT thinking ) Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
kotegashiNeo Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Close shotochem I have been reading the latest biography of Musahai in which many excerpts for the unfettered mind appear but it is defintely on my next book list. Kisshu fushin oni te hotoke kokoro

Throw me a title and author. I have holiday bookstore gift cards just burning a hole in my pocket. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
