Shito Ryu Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 First off. YES as martial artists we should have self control. But there are FAR to many kids\adults out there that are WAY to cocky. And becasue anytime you punch a guy you can get charged with assault or at th very least get suspended from school. Those kids\adults are getting cockier and cockier by the minute. Sure we shouldn't go around picking fights. but we also shouldn't let those (pardon my french) * HOLES walk all over us and everyone else in their town. You don't have to break their nose\limbs\etc. But knocking the wind out of anyone will shut them up..... If only for the short time it takes to get their breath back. Nowadays people won't stop until their stopped by someone or until they see what their doing is wrong\stupid\immature. So if we let them walk all over us today. Whats going to stop them from walking over us tommorow?.?.?. Oh yeah I bet that the red head doesn't show.... Lol jk Friends may come and go, but enemies accumulate....
Son Goku the monkeyking Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I have the exact same problem with a this kid in my class He alway is talking some s##t to someone, BUT hecan not fight at all, litterally 80% of the kids in my class have beeten him up and he still be talking and ssaying how he will beat somebody up , heck the teacher want to beat his A##. so today this same skinney as a stick boy whas saying that I was WEAK When everyone knows he is the class personal punching bag. earlier this school year I got in trouble for punching him so hard he could hardly stand BUT he did start it by hitting me first and may parents always said if someone hits you hit them back the point is I can easily see that you could want to knock out people who talk alot of mess and I simpithise with you.
italian_guy Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 And those that will tell him that he should never defend himself, or his honor, are as abuseive as they are wrong! With this I fully agree. I only blame him for his attitude, he forgot that MA is to avoid conflict ... but I agree that is also to defend yourself when the conflict becomes unavoidable. Best luck to you SS (even if is too late, aahh those timezones if the earth was flat and still we would not have needed them however.... )
VinnieDaChin Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 sh*t happens, learn from it. try laughing at the guy next time, its the opposite of mad, makes them incredibly mad, so in a way you come out a winner. and hey, if you really wanna kick his *ss, maybe you can provoke him into attacking you first. but all in all, this incident will soon be old news, just dont forget (cause then you wont learn.)
White Warlock Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 I felt rotten for weeks after that incident, and still do to an extent. It was a total lack of control on my part and if he'd have said the wrong thing, or tried to throw a punch, I'm afraid of what I might have done to him.Shorinryu, there's this disorder called borderline personality. It's essentially a disorder whereby the person pushes people to the edge (thus the 'borderline' title). They examine your character, your persona, and try to find your buttons... then proceed to press them repeatedly. Lots of kids develop this survival behavior, but grow out of it. Looks like that student of yours never did. I.e., don't let it bother you so much. "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro

Sounds like it would be a tremendouse addition to my martial skills! Freedom isn't free!
