username4 Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 i was sparrin in my first spar not to long ago and when eva i punched my sparing partener fullforce (my partener said it was the hardest punch he had eva incountered while sparring) i had to shake out my hand to use it again becuase it would go limp if this is weak wrists then how do i fix them. and if it isnt weak wrists wat is wrong and how do i fix and no it didnt hurt much at all it just went limp.
Hudson Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 Doesn't sound like weak wrists, sounds like improper alignment in a punch. You know those details your teacher goes over about proper wrist alignment in a punch? They're very, very important. The only way I know of strengthening wrists themselves is to do pushups on top of them, but I am wary of doing that because of long term effects. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
Shorin Ryuu Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Okinawan Hojo Undo is pretty good for wrist (and other training). I do agree that it is probably due to improper form that your wrist is in pain. However, if you are interested in strengthening your wrist and other muscles and connective tissue, you may want to check this out. My philosophy is to use biomechanics and other things before strength at all times, but having strength is also a bonus... Here's a website with a good description of various stuff. The owner is an excellent fighter and karateka, also a certified athletic trainer and has the certified strength and conditioning specialist credential (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I also know him personally, and have bought some stuff from him before. However, his store is off-line at the moment (he's currently busy doing other stuff right now). All the same, it lets you know about it (if you want to buy some later or from another place). You may just want to email him or give him a call (his info is on the webpage), as his webpage may simply be not updated at the moment. http://www.bushifitness.com/ Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
Shorinryu Sensei Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Off the subject...sorry,...but Hudson, what is this that you have listed for your "style"?Styles: Most hardcore style ever where you have to break your own bone to pass a black belt test because it's that hardcore and street effective and hardcore I'm assumning it is meant as humor? My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Rich67 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 What? You're not aware of the way of IMMA MAKKI JOKKI? I had to break my right arm and stick my head in a boiling pot of oil in order to get my 1st dan! Just to get my white belt I had to walk 200 miles barefooted through the forest where I had to wrestle 10 bears of different styles.... Mixed Martial Artist
username4 Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 imma makki jokki=i make joke. lol very funny gotta remeber that one
Randy Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I used to have problems hurting my wrists punching when i first started training in the martial arts. Was mostly due to improper technique and poor aim so i was hitting the circular bag off-centre and my wrist buckling (ouch) Didn't take me too long to sort it out tho, i can smack it around with full power now without hurting myself.
kimura_guy Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 One way to strengthen your wrist is by doing pushups on your fist. Another way is to do wrist curls and reverse wrist curls with barbells. KG It's better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.
Hudson Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Oh, yeah. It's a joke. It's the "Ultimate" art because it's street effective and hardcore. No McDojos. You have to kill a man to be 10th dan. It's that hardcore. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
