ShotokanKid Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 After doing very fast kicks, usually mai geri keagi (front snap) I often feel a pain. Does this mean I pulled my muscle? How do I deal with this? "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
Jinxx0r Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Where are you experiencing pain? Saying your leg hurts is too general. Also, nobody can diagnose you on a message board. Could be muscle, tendons, joint pain, ligaments, etc... Does it hurt during and after excercise? I would recommend the RICE method for injury. R - Rest I - Ice C - Compression (wrap the injury... like ace bandages) E - Elevation, lay down with your legs up. After a couple of days use heat (like a heating pad) if it's severe, like you can't walk, I would recommend seeing a doctor. WhiteBelt Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Heh, I'm not afraid to squat heavy but you'll never see me doing front snap kicks. I'm too worried about knee damage...
Red J Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Doing front snap kicks to the air at 100% with full extension is a recipe for injury. Take it easy and make sure you don't lock out your knee. If you want to go all out hit a bag. That will give you some resistance. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
ShotokanKid Posted November 17, 2004 Author Posted November 17, 2004 Ok... I was too general. THe pain is in the back of the knee area. It's not like it's a sit down and scream in pain injury.
