Radok Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 This is thread is about the Shaolin Monks. I would like to know what kinds of routines they do in terms of physical conditioning. I have heard a few things in various places on the things they do, like hold a horse stance for an hour, and do 500 pushups every day, or hold out a bucket of water at arms length for time. Does anyone know the routines they do to develope they're strength and endurance? If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
HumanTyphoon Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Well this is from a website I found, I'm not sure if it's truly accurate, but they say that in order to train for the Zui Quan style, they do this workout routine.... 50 One-Leg Squats (each leg) 50 One-Leg Toe-Raisers (each foot) 50 Toe-Raisers on both feet 10 Front Kicks (each foot) 10 Side Kicks (each foot) 10 Round-House Kicks (each foot) 10 Hook Kicks (each foot) 50 Push-Ups with feet on posts They also wore these... -A weight vest (weighing at least 20 pounds) -Five pound ankle weights on each leg -2.5 pound wrist weights on each arm -Hold five gallon water buckets, filled with water, -in outstretched arms (this is good to do by itself) If you take a crooked path and have to go through a cliff. Either hope there is a bridge, or learn to fly.
Radok Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Ok, thanks. Do they ware the weights through the whole routine? I have all the equipment, I just need to know when to wear it. Hudson Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 That's why I love Zui Quan I'll be taking a trip to Shaolin to go to the secular temple. Hopefully it will enlighten a little more than my bank account. But I am also interested in Shaolin monks, so any more info would be great The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.

Sorry, I don't really know...but my best bet would be in order to be stronger, it would be better to keep it on during the whole thing. If you take a crooked path and have to go through a cliff.
