a neutral view to martial arts

Like Reklats was saying, all martial arts have different qualities and target specific areas. Every single art is tailored explicitly in one particular thing, be it grappling, weaponary, fitness etc.. There are so many to choose from that the categories and titles which they come under are endless aswell. As a reult on particular art will focus on aspects which another wont in such detial, and because of that people like to bash the art saying thats it isnt practical are useful. Yet the only reason they are saying that is because that art doesnt specialise in what they are looking for, what they want to practice. Though another person can come and say your art is ineffective as it doesnt specialise in what I want to study. As you can see you can go on and on and on but you will never find a happy medium within the ma community.

ad's got a point, it appears to me that its more the people training in highly combative MAs or in ones they think are highly combative are the people who are bragging the most and are the ones bashing other styles more. well, either them or the people who are not secure in their own style. how many times have you seen someone who takes a legit style of kung fu and have actually gotten somewhere in it start ridiculing(sp?) some other kind of art? its really quite sad when people judge other MAs by how quick you are to get to black belt and how "battle-worthy" the art is

I agree that there is no perfect style. They are all perfect for those who invest time and effort in learning them. For some people my style is "crap", for me is the air that I breath. Other styles are good for other people, although I don't quite fancy them. I'd think twice before making fun of them because I know I'd hurt the feelings of fellow martial artists who have worked maybe more that I had just to find their own piece of happiness. MA is hard, is beautiful and it's like a beautiful woman ... it wants you entirely. We all make sacrifices: money, time, health, social life, just to be there and become better, find our limits and work hard to obtain our goals.

I bow to you all and admitt your style, whatever that is .. is the best. :karate:

Very well put ramy, I agree with you totally :karate:
