Radok Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 40 minutes is a good 5 mile goal, BTW. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
steveb Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 If you cannot talk back and forth with someone while running you are going too fast. Slow down a bit and mix in a minute or two of walking now and then and you should be fine. Work up to a solid 30 mins slowly. Keep it up! Res firma, mitescere nescit
Red J Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Keep on running. If you could do a mile this week and walk two for three days, then try 1.5 the following week. Then 2 and 3. In a month you will be able to do a three mile run without much trouble. That's how I started and I worked up to three miles in less than three weeks. Now I am running another Half-Marathon this weekend and it all started with that first 1.3 mile run three years ago because I wanted to get back in shape for Martial Arts. Could this be considered another benefit derived from MA? Good Luck and keep on keepin' on! I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
