Exponential Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 I've read a few of the posts on stretching and a few on bodywieght exercises. I'm not putting two and two together very well, so I'm going to come right out and ask. Should I stretch before or after bodywieght exercises? Or both? This would be on a bodywieght and stretching everyday routine. "I like the idea of repeatedly sticking my knee in someone's face without threat of lawsuit." - meStart mma training soon. battousai16 Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 i always did both, personally. more importantly then "when" or "how often" is "am i doing them correctly"? be sure of that, first. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai

steveb Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Cold muscles do not stretch, they tear. Do a light warmup, then easy stretch, workout, then good stretch after. Res firma, mitescere nescit
Rich67 Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I stretch lightly before a warmup (usually some jumping jacks, pushups and running in place), then do a full stretch. I hit the weights and stretch after certain cycles. I then do a cool-down stretch. Very important to use good form-no bouncing. Mixed Martial Artist
Exponential Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 Thanks guys. Also, is it okay to stretch after running? I think I heard somewhere it isn't. SevenStar Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 save the stretching until after the workout. warm up, train, stretch. this is becoming a preferred method among a number of athletes.
