Buddhas Belly Posted April 30, 2005 Share Posted April 30, 2005 i have no idea who our grandmasters are, so far my sensei hasn't gotten into any kind of teaching of such history (perhaps due to the fact that i'm still only a 10 kyu (yellow w/o stripe). but for katas, the ones i know about are in order from white belt up... kihon ippon, kihon nihan, kihon sanbon, fukyu dai ichi, fukyu dai ni, fukyu dai san, fukyu no kata. so far thats all i know about. i know we do the pinan katas, and some other kata name starting with an h. i'll do some research to see if i can recognize what those katas are.From the kata it sounds like the Uechiro variant of Matsubayashi Shorin-ryu .... and given that you're in Centreville, I'd hazard a guess that you're in a Scaglione associated school.
