Prodigy-Child Posted January 5, 2002 Posted January 5, 2002 over at the other gym i train at where i lift weights its gotten to that time of the year again where people drop $400 for a yearly membership to the gym so they can full fill their new years resolution i bet my workout partner $50 that those people will be gone within 3 weeks...he thinks im wrong anyway do anybody here have newbies coming in for a little while then taking off this time of year? You can boo me if you want, You know I'm right!-Chris Rock
SaiFightsMS Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 And do they ever. Yes, I think most of them disappear after varying amounts of time. Certainly most are gone within 2 months. One way to avoid the resolutioners is to go in early in the morning. Usually only the serious regulars can be bothered to show up at 6 am.
KickChick Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 Right now at the school we are gearing up for the onslaught of those "newyearsresolutioners" ... we may have to change our schedule around to accomodate those new cardio kickbox students. They sign on for 3 months and if they get hooked and like the results they get they often stick with it or even sometimes go on to taking tae kwon do next door. But there are those that want the immediate results and don't want to put out to get the results. Has anyone seen that ab belt you can now wear that supposedly tones your abs without you having to diet or exercise? Yeah...you can watch tv, strp this thing on and WALLAH! you got a 6 pak! Yeah right! I had to laugh when I read a story in the NY times about a woman who is trying to sue the company because she got electrocuted or something by it. Hmmm I don't think it says you can take a bath with it! Anyway good luck to all those "newyearsresolutioners"... I am ready for them!!!
ad Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 hey y'all , i dont know what it is but i havent got a thing for going to a gym, i personally think that it wastes too much time, going there and back, and most of the excercies you perform there you can do at home with no worriez, also you shell so much money but then cant be bothered to carry on, and feel as if they have wasted money, i personally converted the spare room in the house i live into a mini gym, theres a cheap treadmill, a decent 30kg 5ft punchin bag, a hard spacious surface for press-ups and crunches, and when im old enough , there is room to put weights, or those huge working machines which let you perform over 30 excercise ., so they say , i dunno what it is, but i jus think a the gym is a rip off, - better to stay at home, but then again im sure you hardcore elder and wiser martial artists no better , Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
KickChick Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Remember this post from a year ago??? Ditto on my thread AGAIN! Some people came in this past week to the school bearing gift certificates for lessons and kickbox classes.... (but actually many from last year are still there!!! )
SaiFightsMS Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Actually it does make you feel good when you see a familiar face from last year or the year before in the crush of "resolutioners" packing the gym right now. And exchanged glance and mutual raise of eyebrows can say a lot.
