Mu Ryuk Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Alright, so I got a new nickname today, and I thought it would be interesting to find out what nicknames people have within the Dojang/Dojo/Kwoon/Gym and how they got it. Today we were doing drills where a partner holds a kick shield and the other partner stands in Horse Stance and punches. First we did single punch, then double, then triple. The last thing we did was full out punching for one minute. Now, I am known for power, so Mr. Rienecker held for me rather than making someone else do it. He is a Cho Dan, 6'6 220 and very strong. I punched full out for one minute. After I was done, he officially dubbed me: "The Meat Tenderizer" Anyone else? Tang Soo! Passion transcends pain.
aefibird Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 I'm known as "Birdy", which is a general nickname I've had throughout my life. Some of the kids also call me "Ms Black Belt", due to the fact that I'm a blackbelt and the assistant instructor. It comes from the fact that we don't tend to use titles such as Sempai in my school (except for Sensei, and he's often called Sir), but when we are training, people are occasionally called by their belt colour. I was showing one of the littlest kids some techniques after class one day and when I finished he said "Thank you Black Belt". I grinned at him and told him that it was "Ms Black Belt" to him, as he's such a titch. It was meant as a bit of fun, but my nickname stuck. One of our Brown belts has the nickname "Bass", short for "Bass-on-Draught" which he claims is his favourite kata... "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." tommarker Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 For reasons I won't delve into, many of the senior rank in my club can recall that my nickname was once "nipple boy" I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
aefibird Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Following aefi's logic id like you all to refer to me as Stella from now on. Cheers. Would that just be Stella or would you like to be known as Mr Artois as well?? "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." steveb Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 For reasons I won't delve into, many of the senior rank in my club can recall that my nickname was once "nipple boy" There's no way you can just throw that info out here and not explain! There's got to be a great story behind that. Res firma, mitescere nescit
Drunken Monkey Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 y'know, in my immediate group at uni, stella wasn't classed as a beer. it's down to me saying i was going to be on soft drinks for the night..... then asking for a stella juice.... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
GrrrArg Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Do you normally drinks ethenol or something instead? Ms. Artois will do fine. Stella is my weekend name..
Drunken Monkey Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 well, any beer was considered tame. when we partied, we tended to stick with the spirits. i onced turned up at a big food bash once with practically everything needed for a full bar set-up and some extras that i made up before hand; jellies, maserated fruits, syrups....... they weren't quite expecting that when i said i could sort out the drinks. vodka is my spirit of choice. (and nothing beats a paradise martini for getting the girls all giggly). going to moskba was heaven. there were brands of vodka that worked out cheaper than evian. didn't risk it though. stuck to good old stoli cos its was only US$7 a bottle. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
