My record is 130. What do you got?

160 :brow: But that was a while ago, I stopped doing pushups and calisthenics completely and only focused on weight training for a while, I can only do about 70 now.

I'd do negatives on a regular push-up and never a "girl push-up", as a beginner. By having your knees in that position you're taking almost ALL of the weight out of a push-up. A normal push-up is only about 60% of your body weight (depending on proportions) anyway. That's a warm-up weight and not even good enough to train endurance, or power, properly for anybody that is strong. They are great for beginners though so keep at it until they're useless (>30 reps and they're getting useless).

Doing 100 push-ups on your knees is not the same as 50 on your feet. They cannot be compared. It's like saying that, for the bench press, 100 reps @ 45 lbs is equivalent or better than 50 reps @ 135 lbs. They train completely different things, and if you're trainging for any MA then you'd better be doing the heavier one.

PS, just getting average is about: bench press BW + 100 lbs, squat BW*2, deadlift BW*2. For a guy of course.

Sounds like the title of a country song.......

Student: "Why did you hit that guy with a chair? Why didn't you use your karate?"

Master: "Hitting him with a chair was the only karate I could think of at the time."

Lesson: Practice until you don't have to think.

What do you guys count as a proper pushup?

For me would be body straight, feet apart about shoulder width, arms at shoulder level but out a little bit wider, then lower myself down until my nose touches the ground and push up until arms are straight, keeping my back straight all the time.

It kind of annoys me to see some people doing really weak pushups, not lowering themselves down much just so they can finish 1st and brag to their mates about how they can do 100 in a row.

Some people also spread their legs apart really wide and kinda stick their * up into the air, bending their back and kinda headbutt the ground.

Anyways doing proper pushups i can do about 35 in a row.

I see that A LOT. then when i ask those people to do proper push ups, then cant go past 40. what is better 40 good push ups or 100 bad ones? personally i havent seen somebody yet who can do more than 80 or so good ones. I really strived to get up to 100.

Same here, except I wouldn't push up until your arms are straight, that almost forces you to lock your elbows. Keep them bent a little. And, just go down until your elbows are 90 degrees (or past) and your chest is about an inch or so from the ground, I wouldn't go with the nose-touching thing.. I mean.. unless, you like sniffing the ground :)
