ncole_91 Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Hey, This Gu gel is sport things that is supposed ot boost your engergy for 45 minutes http://www.gusports.com/ Has anyone over used it, does it work? Thanks, Nicolas
SaiFightsMS Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Carb gels of this nature are basically glucose products designed to be quickly sucked up by your system. You need to be doing some pretty hard core endurance workouts to really need something lke that.
ncole_91 Posted October 10, 2004 Author Posted October 10, 2004 kk thx for the information... have you ever used it?
Red J Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Here's a link for you. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=171244&highlight=gu#171244 It does have a real effect but I only recommend it for endurance training or strenuous training activities lasting 90 minutes or more. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
SaiFightsMS Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 kk thx for the information... have you ever used it? I have used carb gels when I did weights, then three classes in the same evening. You have to make sure you hydrate adequately to allow the stuff to enter you system.

steveb Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I use the Gu gels frequently when I do my cycling training. They are very good at keeping up your glucose levels when doing endurance training. You must also take care to keep hydrated since they will require fluid to help absorb them. If you are slightly dehydrated they can make you queasy. I wouldn't recommend them for MA training or weight training since you are not using up all of your stored carbs during that training. They wouldn't hurt you any, just that you'd be wasting your $$ in that case. Res firma, mitescere nescit
ncole_91 Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 Yeah, I was going to try it just for fun, but I live in Canada and I can't find any power gels, only bars. Anyways I will keep looking lol
Hudson Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 You want a great quick boost of energy? Royal Jelly. http://www.heritage.com.sg/prod21.htm There are plenty of places you can get it, and I suggest getting the little vials so you can look like you have an addiction when you chug one before class. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
