Is jumping rope considered a cardio workout? How many times do I have to do cardio in a week? what benefits can you get from cardio workouts?

It is better to have a knife and never need one. than not having one and really need one.

Jumping rope is excellent cardio. But it is only beneficial if you can jump without resting too much in between- about 10-15 minutes straight without hanging up the rope. Reason being, in order for cardio to be effective (fat loss, general boost of energy, heart fitness) you have to maintain a certain BPM (or, beats per minute) depending on what your fitness goals are for a certain period of time. Don't take my word for it, read this:

I'd work in some other form of cardio like biking or jogging, so you can do about a 30-40 minute medium intensity session about 3 times a week (more if you want more fat loss).

Usually when I did it a lot during my boxing days, it was more of circuit training. It would help your cardio some, but more oriented toward activating the body for lactic acid work (anaerobic) and quick recovery. To specifically target aerobics, we would run. That's how we did it, anyway.

jumping rope burns more calories than jogging.

will doing cardio every day kill you? :-? well i mean is it not good for your health. i have read somewhere that you should give each cardio workout 3 days before doing another one. but another one said if you stop doing your "workout" (i'm not sure if it was pertaining to cardio or another kind of excercise) for more than one day you might fall back from the level of fittness you are in. which of these 2 are true? and if anyone has any statistics to back it up i would really appreciate it. thanx

can anyone please explain the colored belts under your names that appears on the screen? i'm just new to this site and i want to find out why others have a blue belt, brown, white etc. does it have any connection to your rank in the arts you practice?

Yan, the coloured belts next to a persons name is an indication of how many posts that person has made on the forum. Everyone starts out as a white belt and works their way up to black.

The Sensei's are the moderators (the ones with the blackbelts with a red tag) and the Sempai's are the assistants to the moderatiors (we're the ones with a blackbelt and a yellow tag.)

If you have any other questions then please ask or check in the Frequesntly Asked Questions section
