You know that lovely feeling you get after you work out? Well I just started ju jitsu, and Im aching worse then anything. I know IM being conditioned, but moving is hurting. I know with time the aching will either become a norm, or it will slowly dwindle, but Im looking for a quick fix. I've tried the hot tub thing, but it has yet to work. So any pointers would be great

Thanx

thats just soreness..it'll go away in a day or two..just letting your muscles heal from work out

Stretch. And stretch. And stretch. It sounds obvious, but most people do not stretch enough AFTER their work out.

I've read where vitamin C and E can help reduce the longevity of the soreness, but I've never experienced it.

I always take a couple of advil and leave it at that. After a week or two you won't get as sore anymore anyway.

Rather than a hot bath, try an ice bath. It will help with the swelling of overworked muscles... many runners do this. I, personally, would NEVER be able to handle the cold water, but if you can do it, I've heard it's awesome. Sit in the ice water for about 10 minutes... it's just like icing your whole body.

I'd just take a regular dose of advil/ibuprofen/motrin. I've used it from time to time when I've been excessively sore or had an injury, and I think it does a good job of easing sport-related pain. I agree with Sooner, too, after a couple of weeks you'll probably stop having the soreness. I also agree with Shorin, and have found relief in good stretching. Nothing says you can't use multiple approaches.
