First, condition your stance and footwork. Get the target in motion! That way, even if you are hit, it isn't as bad as getting caught flat footed.

Along that same line, learn to yield instead of resisting some strikes. 'Rolling with the punches,' only deeper.

Physical fitness is a good thing, and there are a lot of drills to condition you with/for impact. Medicine balls, kia drills (where someone hits you repeatedly with increasing force), and just good old contact sparing.

Freedom isn't free!

Dude, this aint gonna be what u wanna hear, but the best way to condition it is to get hit... I'm lucky because i grew up getting whacked around the head. U've just gotta suck it up and if u get hit u take it and get back out there. Trust me, you'll find that you're a better person because of it...

I agree. "Conditioning" yourself to get hit is accomplished just by getting hit. The only thing I can see you do is a lot of neck strengthening exercises to make sure you don't get rocked as bad when it comes. Do a lot of stretching in your neck prior, and then attach weights to your head using the special attachment you can find at some hardcore gyms or buy on the net. Here's a good article about it:

As for the body...well, just take some solind hits with punches or a medicine ball and welcome to the club!

When getting hit isnt it all about your mental power?

I was watching this true story korean video about this boxer in korea who was a poor fellow selling coloring books until he got into a fight and got discovered for his fighting. He became one of the best in korea, and the thing is whenever he got hit,he would think that HE hit the guy instead.Eventually this guy died from a brain tumor for getting hit to much. But the point is he always got up not because he was tough,it was because he was mentally strong and kept going.

''I know what your thinking.........did I shoot you 3 times? or did I shoot you 472 times?''

Well it didn't have any adverse effects... *eye twitches nervously* :dead:

It helped me learn how to take a hit... In a way my old man was doing me a favour.

Well, learning how to NOT get hit may help, but aye,I train for the worst too...

Neck stretches and crunches over the years have seemed to do the trick pretty nicely, considering I can take heavy slugs to the throat (though not very happily).

Getting hit seems to help too, and being in good shape overall is always good.

I also practice something similar/identical to combat Ki (I can't varify it considering I do not have the techniques of the Juko Jai, all I can say is that my methods work for me. It seems to work for everything but the groin basically...so to me the mind is the most important. Pain is a direct stimulous from the body to the mind. A message...one that can be ignored or even stopped.

To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
