telsun Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 (edited) Is anyone else going to this seminar? https://www.ugs2004.com I've been to a few Goju courses but have never seen so many experienced sensei all from different associations in one place. Looks very promising! Edited August 19, 2004 by telsun I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
UncleJimbo Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I've been doing goju ryu for about 6 months now. The training is ace but I only get to go a few times a week. This thing sounds pretty kewl! A WHOLE weekend of karate!! Man I'd be knackered!! Can you buy tickets online or do you just turn up? Who's organising it? I think my club is in the IOGK-something. Do I have to be part of the GKI to attend????
telsun Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 IOGKF It is an open course for anyone interested in the Goju system. GKI are only the financial backers. They have just put an online booking option up via paypal, there's a discount for advance booking or you can pay on the door. Where do you train Uncle Jimbo? I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
UncleJimbo Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I'm training with Sensei Jervis in Birmingham. Just spotted the flyer! Cool!! I'm gunna print one out and take it to class and see if sensei will let me put it on the wall.
GrrrArg Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Apparently there was a goju kata course on a while back, cant for the life of me remember who organised it, any idea about that Terry?
telsun Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 I know sensei Jervis, nice guy, good karateka. Grrr...I know the guy that organised it. His karate is okay but not much of a patch on the guys at this seminar! I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
Drunken Monkey Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 hey.... might be a reason for some of us to meet up..... chatham isn't too far from me, just a short hop on the A2. hmm, what's a weedy little wing chun guy gonna do against a hundred angry goju people? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
telsun Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 hmm, what's a weedy little wing chun guy gonna do against a hundred angry goju people? How about you show us what you know I see that Steve Rowe is going to be teaching he's a tai-chi expert. You may learn some stuff to compliment your wing chun. But yeah it would be good if some of us on here could get together I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
GrrrArg Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Terry, I hears that Steve has done a bit of karate as well as Tai-Chi, on his seventh belt now. Or something like that anyway. May see you down there if im Goju by then. Uni depending of course.
UncleJimbo Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Really looking forward to the tai-chi stuff! Dunno anything about it and it looks a bit flowery but hoping it can compliment my goju
