I was wondering if doing an excessive amount of pushups is good for your body and good for raising punching power and speed.

I do an excessive amount mabe once every week or every 2 weeks at one time without stopping and my body looks like i just got out of a swimming pool from all the sweat dripping down my body. I also can barley raise my arms, i am hella thirsty afterwards, my shoulders, chest, and triceps are really red, and the next day i am badly sore.

Wow... I can do about 27 at the moment but I add 1-2 per week (a few weeks ago all I could do was 5!), my next goal is 35 then maybe 50. Be sure you are doing those pushups right, and dont over do them, being sore can be good, but sometimes it can injure you.

I do 130. Alright, out with it. Who marked over 200? :)

If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point.

Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.

I stop about 50, but I hate doing em, I really haven't found any benefit to my punching, other than doing bag work.

A Black Belt is just a white belt that don't know when to quit!

we have to do a lot of pushups and situps for my original art, but that is old school stuff, and i have been around for awhile.

i remember for our green belt testing we had to do 1500 sit ups and 500 push ups. first 100 were finger tips, then 100 knuckles and the last 300 regular.....but that was along time ago.... i can still do over 200 if i push myself....but when i first started martial arts i was unable to do push ups at all except on my knees....within 2 yrs or so i was doing over 500.....when we do our black belt testing....now that is A LOT of extra push ups and situps......the memories....aaaaaaaa back when i was young....

That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
