Chibi Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I'm might have to have arthroscopic surgery on my meniscus. Has anybody had this done and succesfully returned to full contact fighting?
aefibird Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Sorry to hear about your surgery. I hope it works out well for you and that you're soon able to get back to training! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
Hudson Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Sorry to hear about that. I tore my ACL and Meniscus and after a year I was able to go back to normal. After your surgery just make sure you get a good rehabilitation program and you should be fine. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
Rich67 Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Ugh. I had the ACL, meniscus and MCL tears. Not fun. The meniscus is relatively simple and you should be back in business pretty quick. Good rehab and exercise are very important. Mixed Martial Artist

Meniscal tear will be even less of a hassle, i believe. Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
Chibi Posted August 11, 2004 Author Posted August 11, 2004 Thanks for the replies. I have to go for an MRI probably next week. It's giving me pain all around my knee and up my leg, I hope it's nothing more serious.
EvilTed Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 I had an MRI and have had a torn meniscus for months now. I'm waiting until after a tournament on Saturday and my brown belt test next month before I go for the surgery. Just wear one of those neoprene braces everytime you train and you'll be fine. Also, try not to get kicked to that knee Osu! ET
aefibird Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Good luck with your surgery EvilTed! I hope it goes OK and that you're back training soon. (oh, and good luck for your brown belt test too! ) "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
Chibi Posted August 12, 2004 Author Posted August 12, 2004 I injured mine on day 1 of my last test. I had to fight the next day and it just about killed me. I am supposed to fight next month in Tokyo, but it probably wont happen.
