NewGirl
Hi there! I just joined my local karate club for the first time and very excited to begin! However, I am also in the middle of treatment to have a couple plantar warts removed (damn gym) and apparently classes are done bare foot. Should I avoid classes completely until they are gone? Is there anything I can do to cover them? Any and all insights and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

aefibird
Either use plasters (band-aids) or ask your instructor if you can train in sneakers/trainers until they are gone. A lad at my karate school recently had problems with warts on his feet and he wore training shoes until they were gone. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." Luckykboxer
ya i think you are going to want to get training shoes, I am sure your instructor would rather you wear them as well, as probably would the other students. From all i have heard warts in general are extremely contagious and if your warts on the foot are anything like what a friend of mine had then you are going to be pretty tender after having them removed... he had them removed almost the size of a silver dollar :/

Isshinryu88
I had this problem also. I kept getting them from someone else in class. I just used a treatment I bought at the drugstore and then used sports tape to keep the area covered. A bandaid won't stay stuck on past the first few times you move from one stance to another. The tape worked well and it was common to see people use for jammed toes and the like.
NewGirl
Hey all, Just to let you know, I used medical tape & it worked perfectly. It didn't budge, kept me covered and no one thought anything unusual about it. And luckyboxer...that's horrible! Mine is about the size of a head of a pin - I can't imagine what you're friend's foot must have looked like....dear lord!
