krunchyfrogg Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 How do I avoid pain in my knees and feet? I feel the pain on both the bottom and top of my foot (The top of my foot, the part on the groub hurts from the pressure, and the bottom of my foot cramps up). whitedragond Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Have you checked with a physician to see if the pain you are feeling can be helped? I'd suggest slow exercises with stretching and massaging of the feet.
Rotten Head Fok Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Go see a physician first. Have you been doing anything different that would cause this ? Are you getting older ? Have you recently stopped doing something ? You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
ramymensa Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Seek medical attention. It has been said before here, but that's what you've got to do. The cramps could mean you lack something .. or overtrained, or many other "maybes". A doctor can help better. And he must say it's a problem or not. Tell us how it went World Shotokan Karate
aefibird Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Krunchyfrogg, is it when you kneel/sit in seiza or during any kneeling position? I'm gonn aback up what the other have put, though, and recommend that you go check it out with a doctor. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." White Warlock Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Insufficient information Krunchy. Do you have a history of lower back problems, hip problems? Are you taking glucosamine? Are they cramps, dull pains? Any other 'possibly' related symptoms? "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro
Red Triangle student Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Maybe you have bruised your innner foot? I would try going light on it for a while. If your foot really is uhrting when you kneel, you don't have to go through with it. Is it hurting when you do the "Moxo" part of a lesson? Because if it is then you could just ask your sensei if you could stand up whilst you are doing the moxo part of the lesson. battousai16 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 well, yeah, the medical attention thing, but my foot used to cramp up too. eventually after awhile it just went away (the cramping, not the foot ). and lately i've found i've been having a bit of knee trouble too (just in the left one, though...). i've been doing hindu squats in the mornings and taking long walks. it's really quite pleasant; bring a cd player and listen to some music you haven't heard in awhile, or just listen to the night. it's all good fun until someone calls neighborhood watch on you "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
