40 cent
Hey guys, ive been working heavily on full contact sparring and bag work, and recently my left main knuckle has been aching, and its a little inflamed and really red. Obviously ive been working it hard and its injured to some extent, but im a tad concerned that when i move the skin, it kinda grinds underneath and feels really sinewy, is this normal? Have 'over-damaged' it? Also, i jarred my thumb and it is taking a really long time to heal (couple of months, i keep knocking it) obviously the best thing is to rest it and let time heal it, but is there any method to speed the process? Would you be using ice or deep heat? Additionally, whats your opinion on applying metholated spirits to wounds on the knuckles? Thanks Grant
wing chun kuen man
40 cents, Sorry about your injuries. In my training we use herbal mixes known as dit da jows to heal and prevent long term damage from conditioning exercises. The quality of these medicines vary greatly from place to place. There are commercially available brands that heal bruises etc. My first advice to you would be to stop training the damaged areas until they have healed COMPLETELY. You may need to visit a doctor for further examination. Also, if there are any reputable kung fu schools or chinese herbalists near where you live, you may be able to get your hands on good herbal linaments that will help heal your injuries and later be used as a supplement to your bag training. Good Luck, Wing Chun Kuen Man Real traditional martial arts training is difficult to find.....most dojos in the west are Mcdojos....some are better and some are worst....but they are what they are....do you train in one? Rotten Head Fok
I agree with wck man, stop training the damaged areas until they are completly healed. I also use DDJ, I believe it helps condition the body as do others. I hope you heal-up soon. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
Guest
in the future make sure you wrap your hands properly!! Use like mex X 108 in. you can double it if you need to. I know way more about boxing as I am fairly new to martial arts!! Be careful or pay.
