Spielwurfel
Hi everybody... It's my first post here... Well... Let me start... I have some doubts about my leg... I do karate twice a week and i go by bicycle to the place where I practice, and the route that I have to do is a little tough, so, 2 months after I start, my leg was already huge, and its possible to see a very large muscle on my leg (When I say "leg" I mean, the part of it upper form the knee), so, with this large muscle, my leg is very wheighed... Well... This was the explanation... My doubt is... Do you thing that all this wheight can be a trouble when I have to lift my leg letting her straight?? Because I can just lift it in an almost 90º dregree angle, but I have to do a lot of effort to do this... And I don't know if all this wheight can be troubling it... My other doubt is about exercising my leg... Well... I can see in athletes 3 big muscles on their leg (I mean again, upper from the knee)... But same after excersising my leg a lot, there are just 2 muscles very big... This third muscle does not appear... If you look on the left leg for example, you'll see a very big muscle on the left part of the leg and other muscle (but small) just up of my knee... I and want to know what kind of excersise I have to do to work this muscle in the right side of my leg (looking on the left leg)... If you read the entire topic, tanks for the attention and I'm sorry about my english... It's because I am brazilian, and I don't know how do you call that part of the leg upper from the knee... THANKS!!
ramymensa
It's the thigh From what I've read you feel no pain. There is no injury ... then it's just the way your thigh muscles grow. I don't really know if you should worry or not. Before I started Karate, my legs were not as muscular as now ... still I never payed attention to the muscles that are or not visible ... If a certain muscle isn't "pumped" it doesn't mean it's not there. I've had no visible triceps before starting doing pushups. Still they were there and are showing now. Maybe other friends here could help us more. There are many knowledgeable people here and they'll be happy to help. World Shotokan Karate

aefibird
Welcome to Karate Forums Spielwurfel! I'm gonna second Ramymensa's post and agree that if you have no pain or anything like that, then it's probably just the way your muscles are deveolping in response to training. If you're worried about it excessively, then have a chat with your instructor. He/She might be able to advise you. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." ramymensa
Thanks man!! Tis' a woman. You're welcome. I hope I could help here. I'd say give it a time and I guess the "invisible" fiber would become more visible. If not ... you're still looking hot stuff with all the training World Shotokan Karate

Vito
i think what youre talking about is the part of the quads that doesnt reach down to your knee (two muscles actually). if you want to target that, target the entire leg with squats and legpresses, make sure to push with your HEELS not with the balls of your feet. also, lunges tend to work that area great. odds are, though, that youre just not big enough to see it yet. i wouldnt worry too much- just go for size, itll all show up eventually.
