Red J
What kind of pain and where? Is it a sharp pain, a dull pain? Does it continue to ache after you stretch? Is it in the side of your knee or the back? In both? Give us some specifics. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Rotten Head Fok
If it's REALLY bad pain, I would seek out reliable, proffessional help before doing anything else. A physical therapist or a M.D. specialist. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
Luckykboxer
ya sharp pain = really bad and needs to be dealt with immediatly dull pain can mean you have stretched ligaments, pulled support muscles, torn cartiledge, arthritis, or all or any of the above. knees tend to get beat up fairly easily if you dont warm them up, stretch them out, and take care of them

Sharp pain in both the side and the back, and its only during stretching doesn't ache or anything after
aefibird
I'd go and check it out with a doctor, just to make sure. Also, make sure you're doing your stretches correctly. Check with your instructor or a fellow martial artist who knows about stuff like that. If you show them what stretches you do and how often they may be able to advise you better, as they can actually see you in person. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..."
