Aikidoka Posted January 4, 2002 Posted January 4, 2002 I heard somewhere that you shouldn't meditate before going to sleep, but I can't remember why.
Jack Posted January 4, 2002 Posted January 4, 2002 I meditated last night before I went to sleep, I was fine. Maybe its because normally, its consciousness to unconsciousness, and if you meditate then fall asleep its more a sort of medatitive state to unconsciousness? Dont see any harm in it personally, however. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
SaiFightsMS Posted January 4, 2002 Posted January 4, 2002 I think what we are thinking about at bedtime influences the quality of our sleep. Maybe meditating at bedtime produces a better mental state than just trying to sleep with the hodgepodge thoughts of the day going through our heads.
Joecooke007 Posted January 4, 2002 Author Posted January 4, 2002 Just reading this thread puts me in a relaxed mood. I just came up with another question. Do you have anything that you use while you meditate? I.E. meditation balls? I light incense to calm myself.°°°° Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee
username237 Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 if ever i am stressed out, worried about anything etc i will meditate anytime! I wont do it while other people are around as they dont understand what i am doing. About the last question i use incence sticks also. I have meditation balls but i do not use them, they dont work for me.
SaiFightsMS Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 I also use incense. I think it helps set the mood. Meditation balls - do you mean the bao ding balls? I find them useful but in a different sort of way - as a stress reducer. You know Jack I was thinking about this thread and one of your comments. I can just see you dropping down into full lotus at school. I can also imagine how quiet it got.
Jack Posted January 12, 2002 Posted January 12, 2002 Hehe Sai, I only did it once because the class was being incredibly annoying/noisy and wouldn't shut up, and it was the only way I could relax myself. And yes, it became very quiet... I then opened my eyes and smiled, and thanked them. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
