Fenris-wolf Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Wow, seriously in awe of the people here who've been training more than 20 years! I just hope I survive that long! I trained in Seido karate for about 3 years, have been training in MT for just over a year, started Judo a wee while ago but couldn't really fit it in - intend to start again when I have time but am a real beginner in grappling! karatekid1975 Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Wow, different topic I've been training for almost 4 years. Dang! I feel like a rookie, too. I wanna learn from Shorinryu Sensei Smart man he is. Laurie F
sAtelitte Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Guess i'm one of the rookies here, 4 months now but no way in hell i'm going to quit any day soon. i'm beginning to love MA and i'm even starting to think of taking an additional MA something like kendo or iaido (or both ).I got a late start in life compared to most of the "kids" on this forum. I was 22 when I started taking my first class from Sensei Miller. I'm 21, if i look at my group of beginners and their age i'd say i'm in the middle so i don't consider myself as someone who took a late start. I rather compare to my group at the dojo then the members here on the forum cause you're probably right and i prefer to be in denial https://www.shaolin.be
renketsu Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 11 years in Shotokan Karate - that makes me the only one in the 10-15 category Also with (strangely) 9 months each of Ninjutsu, WTF TKD and Kobujitsu thrown in over the years; and hardly worth a mention but I have done a quick lesson or two in Judo, Aikido, Wado Ryu Karate, Hun Gar Kung Fu and Wing Chun Kung Fu just for curiosity. SevenStar Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I started when I was 6 - I'm 26 now. I started training intensely when I was about 17.
Red Triangle student Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 for me it is 8 years almost "To be elated at success, and dissappointed at defeat, is to be the child of Circumstances." I wish I followed that rule! ^^ I hate Losing!
ramymensa Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 It has been since 75/76 for me.WOW. I haven't even been born when you started I'm here from '78, so no chance to keep up with you guys. I'm in Shotokan for almost 3 great years. I wish they were more to count, but life goes on World Shotokan Karate
italian_guy Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I started in march 2003 with kickboxing (so I'm in the 1-3 years category) but the I started Tai chi chuan on January and Karate early May (when I quitted kickboxing).
crash Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I started when I was 16, and that was 22 years ago,.....boy, time flies by, but I still remember the first dojo and the early days of training like it was yesterday.
cathal Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 On and off for 10. Since January I've been 100% committed for the rest of my life. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
