Fitness Standards...

What fitness standards (e.g. number of push ups, running ability, flexibility, etc, etc) would you expect to see in a martial artist:

A) who has just passed their first ever grading

B) is at an intermediate level (say green belt in most styles)

C) has just passed their black-belt grading

?

Currently: Kickboxing and variants.

Previously: Karate (Seido, Shotokan, Seidokan), Ju Jitsu, Judo, Aikido, Fencing.

Hard to judge when striking and grappling focus on different muscle groups, and then to get into the level of intensity each gym wants out it's students.

For example:

My MT gym spends an hour on conditioning and an hour on technique. On the other hand my karate dojo spends 15 minutes on conditioning and 45 on technique.

For a blackbelt, I would expect this.

"In one go: 200 press-ups.

In one go: 500 sit ups.

parallel Squat weight equal to your body weight easily for 10 repetitions.

Dead lift twice your body weight for 1 to 2 repetitions.)"-UKFightFreak, from fightingarts.com.

For cardio, run a quater mile in under 6O seconds, run a 5k in under 24 minutes, and run a mile in under 6 minutes.

If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point.

Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
