6 second abs? Ab king pro? sit-ups? Spot reduction?

Recommended Posts

These fitness fads claim that users will loose inches off their waist, and thus loose pounds. I don't get it! isn't there no such thing as spot reduction? Yes, it's true that you'll gain ab muscles by doing sit-ups thus increasing your metabolism, and thus somewhat increasing the rate you burn fat. Why do these infomericials then not mention about losing fat around the hips or thighs? It appears to me, these infomercials emphasis spot-reduction, when there is no such thing! Also, in order for optimal fat burning your Respiratory Exchange Ratio has to be around 0.70. In order words, you have to exhale(carbon dioxide) and inhale(oxygen) at a ratio of 0.70 for optimal fat burning. You have to do something more physically active rather than working your abs, to get your Respiratory Exchange Ratio around 0.70. As well, you have to be working at around 65%-75% of your maximum heart rate, for maximum fat burning. I don't see how just working your abs will elevate your heart rate enough for you to burn fat and lose inches off your waist!

CAn anyone explain thiS! :-?

The fact of hte matter is, the average joe doesn't realize that spot reduction is a total myth. People want to look good, and their idea of looking good is having big guns and a six pack. How often do you hear people saying "hey, nice lats"? When in reality, you need a wide back to facilitate that V-taper...along with shoulders, pecs, blah blah. Its the total package, not just using the ab-wheel for five minutes a day.

Usually those products have fine print associated with them that mention diet and exercise. But how many people read the fine print?

Its funny watching these fitness things, and the stuff they come of with. Its bloody hilirious sometimes lol. Its like, "u to can loss 25 pounds of fat in 1 week of useing this amazing gizzmo" I agree with red j, about his rule of thumb. One thing that always puzzles me is that they always say its easy or this will be easy, bullshit. They should say get of your fat * and stop eating 10 packs of crisps a day. Allthough i will attmit that some fo the fitness fads stuff sames good for example chuck norris's piltaes machine.

Sorry about the use of the bad french,(bad language) :D

I think what I find funny in these videos, is they show the people with these AMAZING bodys, and they say "IF YOU WANT A BODY LIKE THIS", what they have done in South Africa, the main company who markets these products, the neglected to mention the fact that the product would only work in conjunction with a specific and specilized diet, as well as excersise ! They were forced to take their add's off the tv, and only allowed to put them back on with the respective changes!

What is the real kick in the jaw, is the products cost, and I mean they product will also only work if you keep it up, alot of people I know dont bother after a week, because it just becomes to much hassle :\

GOOD OLD fashioned swimming, running and eating healthy have worked fine for me for the past while ! So its what I will stick to !
