mjolnir Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 In an episode of the National Geographic Society on Karate with Josette Normandeau, I saw a sensei who was called "Taira sensei." Can anyone tell me what his full name is and which particular style of karate he teaches? Thanks.
Ronnryu Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 not sure I havent seen this show but they may be talking about Taira Shinken he was very famous in the art of Kobudo. Ron DavisSandan (Motobu ha Shito ryu)
mjolnir Posted May 14, 2004 Author Posted May 14, 2004 Thanks for trying but no, I believe that it wasn't Taira Shinken Sensei because this particular episode was recent. In fact, the sensei featured works as an undercover cop in Okinawa.
Karateka Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 I saw that show. Its either Shotokan or Shito Ryu "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)
informer Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 His name is Masaji Taira from Naha Okinawa. He teaches Okinawa Goju Ryu but does not teach people who he does not know. http://www.mixedmartialartsexpo.com
