italian_guy
In my TMAs classes (both in Tai chi and karate) there is a prevalence of women. In kickboxing we were mostly men.
renketsu
Males outnumber females by some considerable margin (2/3x) in our karate classes (mine and my senior's classes). Also adults outnumber kids by about 5x in my classes and about 10x in my senior's classes. Andy. karatekid1975
In the schools I was in (3), it was almost equal. There were a bit more males, but not much more. Laurie F
DLopez
There's about twice as many male students than female students in our school. The ratio of boys to girls in the kids classes is closer to being even, but the adults classes are where the big discrepancy is. Beka
You know, I think it's about equal. Some nights there are more women than men, and some nights there are more men than women. There is one teenager class that was for Green belts and above, and up until a couple of weeks ago, there were only boys in the class. Seeing it kinda bothered be, but then about 5 girls got their green belts. It's not equal, but it's improving. I don't think I would be as happy in a class with mostly men. Not that I can't function around men, or that I need the support of my 'sisters' (psshhhh, please), I just don't like thinking that women aren't interested in martial arts. I prefer to think that we're doing something about empowering ourselves.
Dijita
Our dojo is fairly even, though I would lean to more men. However in tournements, there are always more men than women.
shotochem
We are at 60-40 men to women. A little bit outnumbered by the kids right now at about 2-1. The adults seem to come and go but we generally have the same group of us that have trained together for years. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime. gheinisch
We're mostly even, maybe a couple more men. We are represented well by the ladies. ramymensa
Women outnumber the guys in the students classes (at the "official" training we, girls are kinda outnumberred). Still it's great so many women start taking MA. Enough with prejudices, time to do something for yourselves World Shotokan Karate
