ramymensa
I'm not going into disputes here. I just want to say I feel that the guit is not soldiers. They are doing their best and die for a cause, even if it's a good one or not. The events in 11th september were horrid and undeserved, like those in march 11, in Spain. Those people didn't deserve to die. Nor did "my" neighbours in ex-Jugoslavia who were bombarded in the Holy Easter day by americans and their allies (and my country was allied, god damn our president and those who took this decision. Timisoara, my town, is just 50 km away from the serbian border ... we could hear the bombing and could do nothing but pray for those who were having such hard time. We have thousands of serbians in this part of the country and we could only imagine how they felt, knowing their family or relatives were in danger. Not to mention our fear that our town would be wiped out. In war 50 km is nothing. It's easy to watch on TV a conflict .. we did so in other cases .. but it's quite different when you know your town could be an easy target too.) They said they were trying to mantain peace. Unfortunatelly some serious damage was done too. A beautiful country almost destroyed, so many dead people, children left orphan and homeless, so many women raped and tortured (many of them by the "peace forces" and so on.) Those who died in Iraq, Nam (on both sides), in Hiroshima, Nagasaki and many others in so many conflicts didn't deserve their death. Americans and other nations ... it's a pitty so many lives were wasted. World Shotokan Karate
CanuckMA
I'm tired to hear how Tillman is a hero. He is a man of conviction, he did what he believed in. For that, he is worthy of praise. I was sick and tired to hear abou Jessica Lynch (sp?) as well. How about the other nameless, faceless kids who are dying over there. How about the black kids from the ghetto who joined the military to learn a trade and escape his daily life in 'the 'hood'? It is time that news outlet start showing the coffins coming back on the 11 o'clock news so that the people will realize what is happening there. aefibird
Can we please leave politics alone and just respectfully remember those who have died? Remember, this is KarateForums - not political forums. Thankyou. My respects and sympathies to the family of Pat Tillman and others who died serving their countries. "Was it really worth it? italian_guy
My deepest sympathy to all that have died to defend our western civilization that allows us many things... and gives us even the right to disagree with our leaders (political or religious). The people who killed Tillman and all the others have not this right and they think they do not need this because they are slaves (inside and outside, outside because they are constrained and inside because they are convinced). As Voltaire said "I don't think you are right but I'm willing to die to allow you to state it"

You gotta point Canuck, it's up to the media to give equal time and not slant everything. Fenris-wolf
How many of us would "do the right thing" in his shoes? How many of us would convince ourselves that Afghanistan or Iraq was not our place, and hold onto the money, fame and adulation? I really don't need to convince myself that Iraq or Afganistan isn't my place. I don't need fame, money, or adulation to tempt me away. No, all I need is a brain. Not that I don't have sympathy for every man or women lost to this war, but Beka is right. It's a waste of human life, as is every war, and this one isn't even vaguely justifiable. White Warlock
My sympathies go to all those who died prematurely. Let us hope they accomplished much in their lives and performed actions which brought their family honor. Let us also hope the present conflicts will end soon and those fighting for whatever they believe to be right, can once again return to more peaceful, if not necessarily perfect, times.
