Nice! :karate:

Wish I could go, but I stopped living in the UK ten years ago.

Sounds interesting as I have never seen musical forms or tricks done in person so could be worth a watch :)

Could be a long drive for me though (assuming I can by that point if my collar bone heals in time) as there is no direct motorway route over the Pennine Mountains :(

Well, I'm certainly going to it, even if I don't compete because it's only about 3/4 of an hours drive away from me, which is great because there's usually hardly any competitions near where I live. Plus, there are others going along from my club too.

Musical forms and trick categories are good to watch, when done well. It's a good bit of entertainment (especially if the music chosen bears no resemblance to the speed at which the kata is being performed at, as I saw once).

Cha-ching :brow:

I've just found out a much better way to get there using the M6, A50 then M1 - only 2hr 12min according to AA - I am pretty sure I can beat that time tho :D

I am slightly surprised at the lack of interest from the UK members... looks like a quality day out (even as a spectator!). :karate:

Even managed (so far) to rope in some of my senior adult students to come with me to watch - helps make the journey less boring too

So barring not being able to get another instructor to run my Sunday class I will be there :)

Unfortunately not :(

Couldnt get another instructor to cover my class as they were all busy! Would have been a really bad idea to cancel my class so I can go and watch a comp - dont think the other students would have been too impressed! :o

Will have to wait until the next one, I assume they are going to host more - atleast I hope so :)

Did you manage to get there Aefibird - or anyone else for that matter?

Ooh... just noticed I am now an Orange belt :D woohoo

Yep, I went. I didn't compete - I'd had an accident the day before & didn't think that a competition was going to make me feel much better...

I went along because a few people from my club were competing. One of the kids won his Forms category, another girl came second in her Forms category and people from my dojo did well in the fighting, even though it was WAKO rules and we usually fight WKF rules.

They're gonna have some more of these events -they want to make it into a regular thing I think. It was a good event.

Excellent - well done to your club :D Was gutted that I couldnt go - was it busy and did spectators get enough space to wander round or was it squashed in to a small building?

We compete under WAKO rules so it would be easier for my lot :)

Any major injuries or was it refereed well? :o

I have to ask... what kind of accident... inebriated type of accident? :brow:
