ITF Taekwon-do is purported to have over 2300 techniques all of which can be found within its 15 volume encyclopaedia set alone (not bad for a Kicking style). Tell me more about this ultimate "practical style".

i'm confused.

'combat hapkido'?

doesn't that suggest that 'regular' hapkido isn't suited for combat?

bah, greedy men and their marketing ploys....

A 15 volume encyclopedia? :kaioken:

Yeah I guess Tae Kwon Do is the most common korean style for a reason. It's good. But Hapkido appeals to me more.

Don’t get too fired up over the encyclopaedia set, it’s only a training aid, and in no way shape or form does it replace lessons from an instructor.

I guess I owe you an apology, yesterday was a real s#*t of a day, and when I saw yet another my art is better than TKD post I couldn’t help but bite.

You see, most people who make these comments fail to do some research and assume that there is only one style of TKD. The same goes for people who believe that just because TMNT and KK Karate aren’t the best in the real world (as he dives for cover) all Karate is crap.

Once again I apologise for my half baked comments.

Hapkido is an awesome and well rounded Korean Martial Art invented by Master Choi (A Korean who moved to Japan as a young man) in the early 1930's. It imploys kicking, punching, joint locks, takedowns, and weapon forms. It was derived from Aikido and Aiki-jujitsu. Various wristlock, elbowlock, and other joint lock techniques are mastered.

It is very good.

:( Whats the argument here? They belong to the same family. Every Korean master I know knows both. Most of them also know judo. If u know any old school masters they will tell u TKD is more sport and long distance and Hapkido is more survival and close in. "Combat Hapkido" may be good in itself, but the term is insulting. The "traditional" Hapkido I learned included biting, broken bootle, bricks and tire irons as weapons. Remember most of these 'traditional' masters grew up in post war Korea where crime and violence were rampant and have many streetfights under their belts. :kaioken:
