Rich_2k3
Ok, I'm 17 years old and my height is 5'10'' (last time I checked, I may be 5'11, but I doubt it) weighing in at 143 pounds. I have a very good muscle/fat ratio, and seem to be stronger than ppl who seem alot bigger than me. I go to the gym twice a week, however I dont do free weights. I do use the weight machines though and abit of cardio on the side. I work out quite hard on the weight machines. I do a 2hours of karate every week and at home I do lots of calisthenics and isometrics every night. (sorry 4 the life story) My question is simple and I know its hard to answer from the limited information I've given you, but do u think I'm stunting my growth. Remember I'm still only 17, however I dont think i'm gonna gain much more in height at this age, or am I. Be as detailed as u like in ur answer. Be as detailed as u like in ur answer.no, I doubt very seriously youre stunting your growth, 17 is a good age to be working out on a regular basis without anything to worry about. when I was 17 I did karate 5 hours per week, worked out with free weights 4 hours per week and wrestled in school without any adverse affects, as did many others. so you probably have little to nothing to worry about. actually if you would like to gain more muscle mass the next two to five years is the best time for that. Ironberg
You'd only be stunting your growth if you are seriously doing power lifting. Of course, I wouldn't be positive about what I just stated. angelica d
I agree, it seems like what you're doing is perfectly healthy and I reckon that by 17 most people have done all the growing they're going to do. Topic's right, it is in your genes, but believe me it is possible to stunt your growth. I lost four or five inches of my predicted adult height when I had an eating disorder in my mid - teens. Anyway, 5'10" or 11" is quite tall already IMO. Its not like you're gonna shrink by weightlifting so I don't see the problem!
