Last night at sparring i got kicked in the left thigh in the muscle on top not on the side and OMG i cannot even stand on the leg. My leg feels liek its gonna just snap on the thigh in two. I want to know what happens to your muscle when it gets hit liek this, does it get ripped or somethign?

you may have got hit in the nice nerve that runs through the thigh, a nice target for the low kicks, you keep kicking the nerve and your opponent will be unable to stand and fight you.

Oh man, good I came across this post, I think it corresponds with my situation.

Last night, we were "sparring" (not really, you just had to do a set of combinations with a partner, for instence, jab, hook, snap kick) and it was light contact.

Of course, I was teamed up with a friend, and we have sort of an agreement in which we know that we can hit each other pretty hard without having to worry about the other not being able to take it.

So, the combination had a roundhouse kick in it, and this guy is a higher belt and has a Lot more experience than me, and he blocked it beautifully. It hurt so bad, he hit my shin and my foot, somewhere around the ankle (can't really describe it) Anyway, I ignored the pain, and kept on doing the combination, and everytime he would block in the same way (I tried to change my targets, but he caught all of them) until eventually the pain became so bad I could hardly walk. Oh well, I completed the rest of my training despite.

When I got home, it was awful, all of my precious adrenaline was gone and I could feel the pain to its full extent. It's only slightly swollen, so I'm still not sure what the injury is, exactly. All I know is that I can't put any weight on it without it hurting, and I can't move my toes without the top of my foot hurting, well, I can't really move much of anything without it hurting. I don't think it's sprained either, I have no idea how I could possibly have sprained my ankle in this situation.. and I can rotate it, not that it doesn't hurt when I try to, but I can rotate my foot.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of injury this is? What exactly he hit? It feels like he hit a muscle because I can't move any part of my foot without that distinctive part on my upper foot hurting. Did he just hit a nerve? Would hitting a nerve hurt so much that you can barely walk for two days? Wouldn't the pain go away sooner?

I have no answer to any of these questions, that's what I have you guys for :P

What was he blocking with? His shin? Kicking stuff repeatedly with your instep area isn't good.

Sounds like a time for ice and ibuprofen.

He was blocking with his arm.. but it felt like he was digging his elbow into it, I don't know, I really have no idea how it hurt so much, but it's better now. It just hurts when I keep it in a certain position for a while now.

Kicking stuff repeatedly with your instep area isn't good.

Lol, yeah, I realize that now. Oh well, I kept on doing the combination because I didn't want to let on that I was hurt and that I have a "weakness".... stupid, stupid, stupid.

Yes, there's small area almost in the center of the front of your thigh, slightly to the outside, that when it gets smacked, can get the leg to stiffen for a time. Hit it real hard and it can stiffen for months.
