How important is sleep when you weight lifting,

ive heard people tell me that if a person does not sleep properly after an intense body building session then you are not giving your body enough time for the torn muscle tissue to rebuild, i know that part of this is true but isnt the body constantly rebuilding muscle tissue when you are awake, or is sleep the only time when it happens, therefore is sleep as essential as perhaps eating the right supplements when you weight lift???

hey bro, sleep is as important as training and nutrition. Without giving your body enough rest your body can not recover proberly therefore you will make little gains in strength or muscle mass. A good 8 hours sleep everynight is important when doing intence weightlifting, see muscle does not grow in the gym they grow at night when your sleeping. As far as suppements are concerned they are there not as a subsitute for sleep or good nutrition but rather as aid to help you. Your body is continullay rebuilding itself throw out the day but the most part of it happens at night when you are sleeping.

You simply will not recover physically OR mentally from a bodybuilding session without sleep. Get lots of it. More than you think you need. Sleep in. Go to work late...er...maybe not to that extreme, but yeah, get sleep. :D

Yes, you definitely want to get as much sleep as you can. Sleep before midnight is always best.

Sleep is very important, but the 8 hours thing is now being proven wrong. That varies from person to person, as recent studies are beginning to show. Take me for example - I CAN'T sleep any more than 5-6 hours - I just wake up. I've been like that all my life. I know some people that are dead to the world unless they get at least 8 hours. The new studies are showing that people should get at least 5.
