Kumite988
Uhh lets say I have a friend...who kicked his friend in the...well..you know. By accident during sparring. Would you think the Sensei would see this as a lack of control...would the victim see it as crappy sparring...and never wanna face me again?..Er I mean never face my friend again... italian_guy
In my opinion the victim should have worn his mmm... protector, and you... I mean your friend... should be not too embarassed, things like that happens. Are there any serious consequences? If not your friend should learn the lesson and wear the appropriate protections. Bretty101
This happens quite a lot with beginners. I always wear groin protection when fighting anyone. The reason this happens most with beginners is because they tend to kick up from the floor. Rather then bringing the knee up nice and high first then kicking out. This comes with strength and flexibility. As long as you(r friend) didn't do it on purpose and you(r friend) said sorry and make every effort not to do it again, i can't see theres a problem! Nothing ruins your day like a kick in the groin!! Bretty
jeffrogers
It happens, long as it wasn't untentional I don't see the problem. Tell your friend to work on his chambering of his knee. lol! -Jeff

aefibird
Tell 'your friend' to tell his friend to wear groin protection next time!! As long as you(r friend) didn't kick him in the groin on purpose then I'm sure that you(r friend) will be forgiven. Accidents happen, even with the best fighters in the world. Sensei might view it as lack of control, but a martial artist can't expect to be perfect from Day 1. Control and timing is something that comes with practice (although I wouldn't recommend kicking someone in the groin to try and learn about control and distance!!) Happy training. blitzcraig
I really dont think its that big a deal. At my school I would spar and I am known for my high kicks, so every time I sparred a shorter person and I tried to kick them in the head....*BAM* *NUTS*...and then they all would laugh at me. The one time I forgot my cup though I told them and they respected that and didnt kick me in the.....*cough* cahones #1"The road to tae kwan leep is an endless road leading into the herizon, you must fully understand its ways". #2"but i wanna wax the walls with people now" #1"come ed gruberman, your first lesson is here.....boot to the head" #2"ouch, you kicked me in the head", #1"you learn quickly ed gruberman"
Sasori_Te
Once upon a time, when I was an orange belt, I had a similar incident. I was sparring a friend in class and he told me beforehand that he had forgotten his cup. He kept making face contact and groin contact which was illegal during sparring at our level. To make a long story short, I got a little irritated and honestly forgot all about his not having a cup on. I came up and underneath with a ridge hand to the groin. I hit him hard enough to knock him out. After he woke up a minute later, I apologized for forgetting, he went home and a few days later he came back and we laughed about it. The bottom line is that, in martial arts contact happens and if someone can't deal with that then perhaps they need to take up paint by numbers as a hobby. I'm sure your friend is fine with it. A block is a strike is a lock is a throw.
tommarker
obviously no one like to get hit in the bait and tackle, but it happens... move on and buy your friend a beer/soda/icepack. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
Rich67
Next time, get it on video and send it to America's Funniest Home Videos. You may end up $10,000 richer... I doubt either of you would care too much then... the "man getting hit in groin with (fill in blank)" skit works wonders on that show!
