Steinhauers Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I'm taking a Karate ( Shotokan ) Class at the college I attend. I was wondering since I was tested on the Heian Shodan ( not sure on spelling ), 1 attack sparing, 3 attack sparing, and various moves if I'm accually not a white belt anymore. Could the test fee have been included in the course fee? If I am still a white belt how do I go about getting graded for a higher rank? thanks, Seth
GrrrArg Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Never ask to be graded, but if you don't know why you were tested or the outcome of the test I can't see any harm in you asking your instructor what the test was about. It could just have been to give your instructor a clear idea of where you were with your training.
Red J Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Ask the instructor how it works. Since it was not covered in the course, you would not be insulting him/her. You may have to join their regular classes for the next rank, (if it is affiliated with the University then it could be a minimal fee). I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Terriator Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Just ask your instruc tor Never think that Karate is practiced only in The Dojo. The entire world is a Dojo, and true Karate training takes place twenty-four hours a day./Gichin Funakoshi Sensei

ramymensa Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Heard of shadow boxing, but shadow testing ... that's too much. Apparently you've been tested and SHOULD KNOW the result. What's so secret about it? Ask the instructor about it. Tell him your opinion and ask for some further directions He should have told you, but maybe it wasn't a grading or ... ASK. And tell us about it. World Shotokan Karate
