When I think about it triceps r so much better than biceps when it comes to striking techniques in martial arts, but everyone wants bigger biceps! (impress the girls maybe?!) what do u think?

Triceps are a much bigger muscle, becuase it is comprised of 3 smaller muscles (hence, tri-cep). Tri's are effective for pushing/punching movements. Biceps are needed for overall balance of the triceps, and assist in squeezing movements (chokes) or pulling movements. Bottom line is, yes, guys work their bi's a lot more becuse they look better and the women love it. But you have to balance them both. You can't get big tri's without also working the bicep to some degree. But don't solely rely on curls with big weights. All you need to do is pullups or chinups in your sets, and those will hit the bi's enough.

Remember that the muscle that works is the one that contracts. To extend your arm, the triceps contracts. The bu=icep is involved in retractting the strike. SImple way to look at it: the tricep delivers the strike and the bicep brings it back.

Don't forget your bicep is also responsible for twisting your fist when you strike. Thats if you twist your fist when you punch. Your bicep also adds weight to your punch and helps to bring in the arc on your hook punch.

It is important!

Is the tricep three muscles or is it called a tricep because it is one muscle with three elements of connective tissue.

true, I think that if your bicep and tricep were greatly unbalanced you would have serious problems with some movements.
