I think that what we eat has a very important role in martial arts training.Do you think fruits are good for a better body ( what a stupid question :P ), do you think that eating to much "fast-food" isn't good for a good body development?...

I will answer you question by telling you what i eat.

I don't have a strict diet but i try to eat:

Fruit, veg, pasta, rice, chicken, meat, fish, yogurt, bread and things like this.

Some fast food is ok but not in huge amounts. Same for lollies etc. Save them for "special occasions".

In general things that a grown naturally are best.

I have a similar diet. Recently I cut down on eating crisps (I think u call em chips in the US) cuz I used to eat loads and there pretty bad 4 u.

p.s I couldnt say no to a good curry or chilli though.....mmm curry.

Crisps = Potato chips...mmmm...*drool* ;)

My diet, when I can afford the time and groceries, is fairly strict:

Breakfast = oatmeal and a banana...perhaps an apple.

Snack: Can of tuna

Lunch: Lean meat sandwich, no mayo, but with spicy mustard. Sometimes I just go with a chicken caesar salad.

Snack: Yogurt! :D

Dinner: This is always the one that kills the wallet, but its the biggest meal I eat. So, at least a 10 oz steak, if not 16. Baked potato, and a vegetable as sides. Lowfat sour cream and salsa on the potato...surprisingly really good.

Snack: PB&J on whole grain bread

Throughout the day, I supplement with 12 oz protien shakes. I also take a multivitamin, flax seed oil (for those omega 3 fatty acids...the GOOD kind of fats), and an amino acid supplement in pill form. At the end of the day, ZMA, which brings your testosterone levels back up naturally (not a prohormone or steroid...just a replenisher of what you have already used if you workout).

Mind you, anything meat I eat is interchangable with chicken breast, tuna, salmon, steak, and turkey, but the best are steak, salmon, and chicken. You can't go too crazy on the tuna due to the mercury content.

What to drink? Water! That's the best thing you can drink ever.

As for what I eat right now...sadly, I just don't have the time or discipline to work out and eat right, so as I type this, I'm eating KFC. Ah, the irony. But a new baby kinda throws you for a loop on what your routine is. I'm hoping by next week to be back to pumping the iron and eating healthy. For now, I'm eating convenient.

Tonight will more than likely mark my return to training MA as well, since I haven't been there in two months, again, preparing for the arrival of my newborn.

Hope that offered someone some inspiration.

As an ex-employee of a fast food 'restaurant' I can safely say that working in such places is seriously bad for your health! I don't think there was anyone who worked there that wasn't totally stressed to the point of breaking!

But as far as food is concerned I think everything in moderation is the best way to approach the subject. I used to suffer from an eating disorder, and despite the fact that I'm fully recovered, I now know way too much about food than is healthy! I'm sure nothing in small quantities ever did anyone any harm...except frogs legs and black seaweed - still havn't recovered from that dodgy Chinese last week!
