Kung-Fu Hippy
Help me. I have growing pains (if you didn't notice the topic heading and just clicked mindlessly). Within the last month or 2 I have grown from the smallest in the family to the tallest. In the process I have some real ugly stretch marks on my knees. But here's the main problem: Whenever I run my knees hurt badly. I can hold a horseriding stance, squat, kick etc. perfectly but it's mainly tuck jumps and running that hurt it most. So waht do I do? I've tried taking cod liver oil but it has no effect.
ninjanurse
How old are you? Young people(usually boys) going through growth spurts can develop a condition called Osgood-Schlatter's which involves overgrowth of the tibia. I'm not suggesting this is why your knees hurt but it is a possibility to explore with the assitance of YOUR DOCTOR. Also keep in mind that when bone grows, muscles, ligaments, and tendons have to stretch and regain their flexability so....you should make sure that you have a good CONSISTANT stretching program. Long soaks in a hot bath help too! cross
I noticed that i had sore knees when i was growing also. The pain went after not to long, just takes time for your body to adjust. If it keeps up see a doctor just to make sure.
